Features and Benefits of the Citibank Rewards Credit Card – Signature Card

Any customer who uses a credit card to pay for purchases frequently can benefit from applying for the Citibank Rewards Signature credit card. Aside from the benefit of earning plenty of reward points for every dollar spent using this credit card for valid purchases, there are also plenty of exclusive perks on offer, too.

Aside from earning plenty more rewards points, customers can benefit from complimentary insurances attached to the card, as well as receiving exclusive invitations and offers usually reserved for premium customers.

The Rewards System

Spending money on the Citibank Rewards Credit Card Signature Card means earning plenty of rewards points quickly. The rewards point allocation is as follows:

Dollars Spent Rewards Points Earned
$1 within Australia 1.5 points
$1 internationally 4 points

Accumulating points is very easy with this credit card, especially when you consider that the points earned don’t ever expire for as long as you hold your account. There is also no cap applied to the account, so you’re not limited by the amount you can earn. This allows some cardholders to save up their points to be redeemed for larger rewards, if they desire.

On top of this, new members can benefit by an instant addition to their points balance, as Citibank will reward new customers applying for the Citibank Rewards Signature credit card with a bonus 80,000 points.

Rates and Charges

Customers willing to pay off any amounts spend on the credit card before the due date shown on the statement will benefit by being charged no interest at all on eligible purchases. The interest free period can extend for up to 55 days for purchases, so it’s very possible to pay for bills, expenses and other expenditure at the beginning of the month, yet not have to worry about paying off the balance until the due date and still not incur interest charges.

However, those customers who do allow a balance to carry over from month to month will incur interest charges. Interest may also be applied from the date of the transaction for any cash transactions, including cash advances or cash withdrawals from ATMs.

The interest rates charged on balances with the Citibank Rewards Signature credit card are as follows:

Transaction Type Interest Rate Charged
Valid Purchases 20.99% p.a.
Cash Advances 21.74% p.a.
Balances Transferred Over from credit cards held with other lenders 0.9% p.a. for 9 months

The introductory balance transfer offer is available for new customers who apply for the Signature credit card. Rather than continue to pay high interest charges on other credit cards and store cards with other lenders, customers can transfer those amounts over to Citibank and pay only 0.9% p.a. for 9 months. This ultra-low introductory rate will extend for up to nine months from the time the card is activated and balances are transferred across.

Throughout this introductory period, cardholders have the opportunity to save plenty of money on interest charges. With less money spent on paying for interest, this allows customers to put more money towards reducing balances much faster.

Once the introductory period finishes, the interest rate will switch over to the regular cash advance interest rate on any balance amounts still remaining to be paid.

Other Fees and Charges

There is an annual fee attached to this credit card of $395 per year. However, there is no additional fee charged to add supplementary cards attached to the same account.

Perks and Benefits Offered

The Citibank Rewards Card Signature credit card offers some of the truly exclusive perks and features usually reserved for those customers with a premier card, such as a Platinum card.

Cardholders who travel regularly will receive two exclusive invitations to enter VIP lounges within more than 600 airports around the world. This is compliments of Priority Pass, which is easily the largest airport lounge program anywhere on the planet.

The Citibank Dining Program also allows Signature cardholders the advantage of receiving a free bottle of award-winning wine with their dinner at participating restaurants right across Australia. Simply look for the Citibank Dining logo in selected restaurants. If you’re dining in at one of those restaurants, ask the staff for your bottle of wine and it will be brought to your table, courtesy of Citibank.
