Fees
There are some fees involved if you use your credit card to pay your taxes. It is basically the same fee that the bank receives from the ATO, and there is no GST that needs to be paid on it. The fee for paying with an American Express card is 1.25% of the transaction amount, while the fee for using a MasterCard or Visa card is .65%. You will be told what the exact amount of the fee will be before you confirm your payment.

If your tax bill is between $10 and $50,000 you can use a credit card as a payment method. Payments have to reach the government on the due date or earlier. Any payments made after six o’clock in the evening, according to Sydney time, and any transactions made on national holidays and weekends will be processed on the next day of business. If you are making a phone payment it will have to be done during business hours.
