MasterCard Credit Cards

History of MasterCard in Australia

MasterCard has been an active payment processing company in Australia since the 1980's. MasterCard Credit Cards are the second largest credit card company in Australia. With access to food, entertainment, shopping, and any other Australian consumer needs there is no reason that MasterCard Credit Cards should not continue to have great success. After a long battle with Bankcard, Australia's premiere card at the time, MasterCard forced Bankcard to concede defeat by 2006.

History of MasterCard

MasterCard originated in California. It was formed by a conglomerate of smaller companies that banded together to compete against VISA. Once the spread from California mad its way to New York it was introduced to the Midland Marine Bank who offered a Master Charge account. The name stuck and in 1979 the company was branded MasterCard, which has been offered globally since the 1980's. It began as a co-operative of banks in California and has been listed as a for profit company on the New York Stock Exchange since 2006. No matter what needs a financial consumer may have, MasterCard has it covered. If a person is searching for a particular rewards program or interest rate, MasterCard has it. There are plenty of options and today's MasterCard has all of them.
